It's no secret that here at The Alternative Store we're big fans of Mike Giant and Joshy D's Rebel8 brand. There's something about their mix of tattoo, street and graffiti influences that makes Rebel8 one of the most iconic and visually-striking brands.

The latest drop of Rebel8 is now in stock and flying out of the door, so we thought it'd be a good idea to feature some of the items here. First up, we have the Rebel8 Rosalie III Tee in Black.

Also available in a white colourway, the Rosalie III Tee has everything that is great about Rebel8 - classic tattoo-inspired design, stunning iconography and an instantly recognisable style.

Also in the Rosalie III range, Rebel8 offer a wallet based on the same striking design.

As well as their tees, Rebel8 also offer a range of awesome jackets and outerwear, such as the Rebel8 Infinite Reversible Jacket.

Arguably the best item in this current range, this padded jacket is embroidered on the back of the neck with the Rebel 8 wreath logo and is embroidered on the left chest with R8 script. Being reversible, all of the design elements feature on the other side of the jacket, which is a shiny dark maroon colour.

Rounding out the selection is the Rebel8 The Block Snapback. This maroon snapback cap from Rebel 8 features a Rebel8 motif on front and snapback detail on the back, and is a guaranteed classic already.

New Look Women's Department!

So as you will have seen over the past few months we have been going through huge changes and our new brands, products and items have been attracting a really exciting and positive response. Due to pre-orders in retail, we buy almost a year in advance so we have been working on re-branding ourselves and transforming our site and store for the last 2 years but only now are we nearing completion of the 'new us.'

Our men's section has seen the most changes of recent and the addition of new brands. Our women's section took more time and needed more work on perfecting our current brand stock too, focusing on buying with a female eye with our new female buyer and also increased amount of female staff. We are so excited and confident you will be too with our latest drops and offerings for women.

We aimed to represent all shapes, sizes, looks, identities and presentations of women and girls and really provide a wide range of options, sizes and designs to try and cater to everyone.

With this, we took on several new brands, namely Rebel8, Volcom, Get Cutie, Rock Steady, Vacant, Insight 51 and we also progressed with our current brands such as Famous Stars and Straps (FSAS), DC Womens, Criminal Damage and Iron Fist, ensuring we are up to date with the hottest styles and designs and operating on the forefront of women's fashion progression.

The drops have started to arrive to complete our transformation and we will feature new brands as they drop, picking out all of our favourite key pieces, staff picks and brand introductions etc.

Right now, there are some sneak peaks of the new sections in our store on facebook. We'll also post some product links to our site for the key items shown too on there!

Regular readers of our blog will know that as well as writing about some of the great brands and fantastic clothing we have at The Alternative Store, we also use it as a platform to write about some of the cool, funny and downright strange things we happen across while bumbling around the internets. Here is this week's selection of videos that have piqued our interest...

As you probably already know, Super 8 is the much-anticipated collab between Spielberg and J.J. Abrams, and though the above trailer doesn't give much away, you can safely assume we're excited.

What's better than Henry Rollins and Glenn Danzig in real life? A cartoon version where they live together as a couple that's what.

Lonely Island. Michael Bolton. Turns out Michael Bolton is a major cinephile. Hand hearts.

Here's Rebel8 guru Mike Giant doing some badass live art.

With all the advances in modern technology, communications and such, sometimes it's the simple things that count. Like seeing two foxes figuring out that trampolines = a hellagood time.

Finally, this one might annoy Arcade Fire purists, but speaking as a massive fan of the band, this remix by Alejandro Chal (ft. hip hop uberdude, Drake) takes an already epic track and nudges it up a notch.

Regular readers of our blog will no doubt know we've got a lot of love for Rebel8, the fantastic clothing brand run by Mike Giant and Joshy D.

One question we're asked on a regular basis is "Why isn't there any video on www.thealternativestore.net?" and the simple answer is that we've never made inroads to create our own videos. This is set to change soon as we've got plans for specific product videos, as well as staff picks, profiles and other bits.

Until then, we've gathered together a few of our current favourite videos that are doing the rounds on the web...

Here's Mike Giant, artist and one of the talents behind Rebel8, talking influences and such...

Chances are you've seen this one but if not, it's a middle-aged woman trashing a bar much to the disgust of fellow patrons and staff. Except the patrons and staff are all puppets, and the middle-aged woman is a two year old. Ace.

Travis Barker is something of a legend around these parts, largely due to his association with Blink 182, Famous Stars and Straps and more recently Lil Wayne. We're currently loving this clip of him soundchecking for a show on his recent tour...

This is absolutely fantastic. Don't be alarmed, there's no animal harm in it, just watch it til the end and follow the onscreen instructions. Very clever stuff...

A selection of our fave videos wouldn't be complete without something from The Lonely Island. This one is taken from their new album Turtleneck and Chain.
