New Look Women's Department!

So as you will have seen over the past few months we have been going through huge changes and our new brands, products and items have been attracting a really exciting and positive response. Due to pre-orders in retail, we buy almost a year in advance so we have been working on re-branding ourselves and transforming our site and store for the last 2 years but only now are we nearing completion of the 'new us.'

Our men's section has seen the most changes of recent and the addition of new brands. Our women's section took more time and needed more work on perfecting our current brand stock too, focusing on buying with a female eye with our new female buyer and also increased amount of female staff. We are so excited and confident you will be too with our latest drops and offerings for women.

We aimed to represent all shapes, sizes, looks, identities and presentations of women and girls and really provide a wide range of options, sizes and designs to try and cater to everyone.

With this, we took on several new brands, namely Rebel8, Volcom, Get Cutie, Rock Steady, Vacant, Insight 51 and we also progressed with our current brands such as Famous Stars and Straps (FSAS), DC Womens, Criminal Damage and Iron Fist, ensuring we are up to date with the hottest styles and designs and operating on the forefront of women's fashion progression.

The drops have started to arrive to complete our transformation and we will feature new brands as they drop, picking out all of our favourite key pieces, staff picks and brand introductions etc.

Right now, there are some sneak peaks of the new sections in our store on facebook. We'll also post some product links to our site for the key items shown too on there!

Alternative Store videos of the day...

One question we're asked on a regular basis is "Why isn't there any video on www.thealternativestore.net?" and the simple answer is that we've never made inroads to create our own videos. This is set to change soon as we've got plans for specific product videos, as well as staff picks, profiles and other bits.

Until then, we've gathered together a few of our current favourite videos that are doing the rounds on the web...

Here's Mike Giant, artist and one of the talents behind Rebel8, talking influences and such...

Chances are you've seen this one but if not, it's a middle-aged woman trashing a bar much to the disgust of fellow patrons and staff. Except the patrons and staff are all puppets, and the middle-aged woman is a two year old. Ace.

Travis Barker is something of a legend around these parts, largely due to his association with Blink 182, Famous Stars and Straps and more recently Lil Wayne. We're currently loving this clip of him soundchecking for a show on his recent tour...

This is absolutely fantastic. Don't be alarmed, there's no animal harm in it, just watch it til the end and follow the onscreen instructions. Very clever stuff...

A selection of our fave videos wouldn't be complete without something from The Lonely Island. This one is taken from their new album Turtleneck and Chain.

Famous Stars and Straps UK

The Alternative Store is THE place to come when you're after Famous Stars and Straps goodies. We get new stock in all the time, and we love FSAS as much as you do (or maybe more ;) )

Starting with the Girls stuff, we've got this Callas Girls T.Shirt in a 60/70s style. It's got a psychedelic motif and the words 'Famous Style 1999' surrounding it in pink, purple and blue. A great nostalgic design and goes perfectly with a pair of Criminal Damage jeans.

And this awesome grey hood features a turquoise 'Badge of Honour' (BOH) classic FSAS logo with offshoots cascading from it. The hood is a zip through and has a drawstring hood. A great autumn winter top.

This black long sleeved thermal top features in pink/purple, the 'Famous Stars and Straps' classic calligraphic logo text with their famous 'Badge of Honor' (BOH) and some surrounding wing detail. A subtle design and a nice warm top.

Now the mens stuff. One of the best sellers from the men's Famous Stars and Straps range is this white t-shirt with a microphone print design. A classic white t.shirt from the guys at FSAS.

This low top trainer show features a black synthetic background with grey leather exterior detail and layering. It reads 'FMS' in black on the tongue, by the hole for the top lace and also in the heel corner of the white sole. They have grey laces.

And finally the FSAS Filero Belt which has an all over black logo patterned print. It also has adjustable clip fastening with an engraved FSAS logo. Along with all the swirling patterns, this webbing belt from FSAS is both attractive and practical.
