Actual Pain ON SALE at The Alternative Store

Round here, we've got a lot of time for T.J. Cowgill's metal and horror-inspired Actual Pain Clothing brand. As one of the darker brands we stock, Actual Pain is gaining a reputation for being the go-to brand for folks who like their shirts daaark. We posted a link recently to an interview with Cowgill himself, so go here to read more about the inspirations and origins of the Actual Pain brand.

Each piece comes across like a shirt for a death metal band that doesn't exist, and this sort of thing pushes our buttons for sure. Hell, we'd form a band just for the chance to put out shirts as awesome as these...

The Alternative Store Videos of the Week

Regular readers of our blog will know that as well as writing about some of the great brands and fantastic clothing we have at The Alternative Store, we also use it as a platform to write about some of the cool, funny and downright strange things we happen across while bumbling around the internets. Here is this week's selection of videos that have piqued our interest...

As you probably already know, Super 8 is the much-anticipated collab between Spielberg and J.J. Abrams, and though the above trailer doesn't give much away, you can safely assume we're excited.

What's better than Henry Rollins and Glenn Danzig in real life? A cartoon version where they live together as a couple that's what.

Lonely Island. Michael Bolton. Turns out Michael Bolton is a major cinephile. Hand hearts.

Here's Rebel8 guru Mike Giant doing some badass live art.

With all the advances in modern technology, communications and such, sometimes it's the simple things that count. Like seeing two foxes figuring out that trampolines = a hellagood time.

Finally, this one might annoy Arcade Fire purists, but speaking as a massive fan of the band, this remix by Alejandro Chal (ft. hip hop uberdude, Drake) takes an already epic track and nudges it up a notch.

Keep an eye out for our next installment of our favourite videos soon, and stop by The Alternative Store for the best in Criminal Damage, Iron Fist, Rebel8, The Hundreds, Mishka, Famous Stars and Straps and more.

Brand masterminds under the spotlight...

Recently we've been trawling the web to find out a bit more about some of the great brands we sell at The Alternative Store. Rather than attempt to cover the influences, inspirations and origins of the likes of Rebel8, The Hundreds and Actual Pain ourselves, we thought it better to let the people behind these awesome clothing brands speak for themselves.

Mike Giant Rebel8

First up, Rebel8. We're big fans of Joshy D and Mike Giant's awesome threads round here, and based on how their stuff flies off our shelves (both in store and online) they're a hit with our customers too. You can view our full range of Rebel8 Clothing and accessories here, and to read more about them, here's an interview with Mike Giant over at Hypebeast.com

The Hundreds Bobby Hundreds

The Hundreds is a relatively new brand to us here at The Alternative Store, but it's already a big seller. We're getting new season stock soon, so cast your eye over here to check out our range of The Hundreds Clothing and accessories. An interview with Bobby Hundreds,  the man behind the brand, can be found here.

One of the darker brands we have is Actual Pain. AP is all about the horror and death metal-inspired designs, and the brand's boss and creative force T.J. Cowgill splits his time between personally crafting all of the Actual Pain designs and playing with his band Book of Black Earth. You can view our full range of Actual Pain Clothing and Accessories here, and read some words from the man himself here.

The Hundreds arrives at The Alternative Store

One brand we're excited to now have in stock is Los Angeles-based clothing and lifestyle brand The Hundreds.

Here's the skinny on the company from the 'About' section of their website...

"The Hundreds apparel is inspired by LOS ANGELES LIFESTYLE / CALIFORNIA CULTURE and Southern California’s skateboarding, surf, punk, and hip-hop cultures. The design is also reminiscent of 1980s surf-culture t-shirts, independent skateboard company apparel of the 1990s, and the advent of “streetwear” at the end of the millennium. The line is comprised of graphic t-shirts, denim, wovens, fleece, outerwear, headwear, and accessories."

If you take a look at the following selection, you'll see immediately why we're so stoked to have The Hundreds at The Alternative Store.
